Tonight it rains. Aye...it doth pour.

The wind blows. I know not from which direction, but it doth blow differently than before. Changes are ahead...

(Note: this is an in character post)
It has been over a year since last I wrote. I am contemplating the usefulness of keeping a journal if I do not write in it.

My divorce is final.

I have contemplated the proposals of many would-be suitors since then. I have decided that I am at my best alone. No distractions, no entanglements, no threats to national security when there is no man underfoot.

I have had my children. I desire no more. My nights may be long, but at least when I sleep, I sleep soundly and without extraneous distractions upon my mind. I am at last, blissfully, at peace.

My focus now is now and forevermore upon the realm.

...Look you, Argyll and Fife, I am married. To Scotland.

Spent a lovely fortnight in Calais sampling wine and buying all manner of exotic material. Mild days, cool nights and wonderous entertainments in the company of my English cousins. However, the return voyage home was quite the trial. A layover in Dover lasted one day longer than planned. I and my retainers left the ship to stretch our legs and were accosted on the docks by Lutherans shaking tambourines, chanting scripture from the Gospels, nailing theses to anything solid and trying to sell us books of prayer printed in the vernacular. Positively vulgar! I am still picking the damned daisies out of my hair. I detest busy international seaports and I cannot abide cults. *sigh*

Even the voyage nuts were stale and I lost Donk along with my luggage. The bo'sun says my trunks and the fool should arrive tomorrow. Am contemplating having the travel agent drawn and quartered.

Tonight I read the poetry of Blind Harry retelling the brave deeds of Sir William Wallace.

I would that I could have a man look at me that way...and mean it.

Met with my barrister this day to discuss matters of Lady Margaret's custody arrangement with the dowager earl of Angus. Nothing of great interest other than Anguish is assumed to be plotting evil with English co-conspirators. Same offal, different day.

I believe I shall up the bounty that is already upon his head should he dare to re-enter Scotland.

What? Hacking off heads isn't dealing "with problems head on"?

You Are Aphrodite!

A total shining star with a ton of admirers
And no wonder: you live life to the fullest!
When things get bad, you can easily take off to a happier place
But occasionally, you need to deal with problems head on

I would have thought Hera...but what e'er...

Oh...and...

It is raining and I can smell it and hear it as it strikes the windows of my chamber.

This is the time I love to wrap the bed clothes around me and sleep deeply. Rain is a wonderous creation of God.

You scored 3 Power-Finesse, 5 Leader-Follower, 3 Unique-Ordinary, and 4 Offense-Defense!
Sometimes, you will stand by your team, keeping them safe but only because they serve you. More often, you will be found menacing the enemy and causing them to cower on their half of the board in fear of your wrath. You have power, and you enjoy projecting it -- or inflicting it. Woe to the lowly pawn or bishop who crosses your path... but beware the charming black knight, who alone of the pieces can steal your heart without you realizing it.

Wise and optimistic, you prefer colors that are classic and sophisticated.
Gold represents the personal power you've cultivated in your life - as well as your future successes.

It has been 16 years since Flodden.

In the blink of an eye, the flower of Scottish nobility and my husband, the king's grace, James were wiped out by the army of the Earl of Surrey and Catherine of Aragon, Queen of England. Every house in Scotland was touched by the bloodbath.

This is a terrible anniversary.

Hubris and zealotry are responsible for this. There was no sense in this battle. No sense in this attack. Scotland lost a king and its men. I and other women lost our husbands, sons, fathers and brothers. All for some man's pride and desire to prove himself in war.

But as long as there are men, religion and politics, there will be war.

Sixteen years ago, I went with the women of Scotland to walk the battlefield looking for our men. Some were alive, others wounded soon to be dead and even more were dead. You must know that there is no stench like that of the putrifaction of corpses after battle. It is a smell I shall never forget. Finding men alive buried under a stack of bodies is not uncommon. By the time they are found, they have gone mad and eventually die from the shock of it all. It is a waking nightmare that I relive in the wee small hours of the night.

The English longbow, of which I have intimate knowledge is a superior weapon. And in the 16 years since the battle, I have not drawn one, not even in the hunt, for it reminds me of the horror wrought by such an item.

I lift up the souls of the dead and their families in my prayers every day. Let us never forget the sacrifice of our soldiers for our freedom.

EARTH ROOSTER Horoscope
January 1489 to February 1490
Jan 22, 1909 to Feb 9, 1910
Feb 17, 1969 to Feb 5, 1970

Rooster is often seen as the original strong silent type, not unlike the Humphrey Bogart and Greto Garbo prototypes. Most people consider them quite eccentric. Sad to say, relationships with other people are often strained. They are quite moody and can be too outspoken. They are often self-centered, but can be quite brave when the situation calls for it. On the other hand, Rooster People are quite talented and capable. They are always devoted to their work and have a reputation for being the hardest of workers. Rooster People are deep thinkers and are pioneers in spirit. They can experience the greatest of joy in complete solitude. Even though often alone, they rarely experience loneliness. Instead, they enjoy their own company and feel solitude helps them in their quest after knowledge.

Shark-tail Soup and fortune cookies are among the keys to good health.

The Earth Rooster epitomizes the very essence of one of Robert Browning's most popular poems, "Grow old along with me; the best is yet to be." Despite early adversity and rough times, their philosophical bent has led them to expect and therefore to achieve the good life. They have a very analytical way of looking at problems and they can pierce the most daunting of tasks with utmost efficiency. With saint-like patience, they are consistent in everything they do and always answer to their own counsel, which hasn't failed them yet. As a result, their careers are forever anchored in smooth sailing, and as life passes, they will know peace, abundance, and complete fulfillment. The same goes for their love life. There are difficulties at the very beginning but as time goes by, they understand each other perfectly, and receive "the best" love has to offer.

Famous Rooster people: Suharto, Deborah Kerr, Peter Ustinov, D. H. Lawrence, John Glenn, Emperor Akihito, Yoko Ono, Eudora Welty, Bette Midler

Well, yes. I have read The Prince. A bit over the top, but then that is the nature of politics.

You Are Somewhat Machiavellian

You're not going to mow over everyone to get ahead...
But you're also powerful enough to make things happen for yourself.
You understand how the world works, even when it's an ugly place.
You just don't get ugly yourself - unless you have to!

As I have oft said, "The difference between the Irish and the Scots is twelve miles of salty water."

You're 80% Irish

Congratulations, you're a shining example of an Irish lass (or lad).
There's hardly anyone more Irish than you!

The wind is cold tonight. It lets itself into my chamber through unseen passages. Autumn is here before the equinox.

There is much on my mind tonight and it will not let me sleep. I am so weary and yet I cannot fall asleep. I can smell rain in the air. I cannot see the moon.

I am trying to remember the sweetness of love, but all I can taste is the sour. These minor things become so much larger in the dark of night. I have more important things to contemplate than the sorry state of my heart.

My children are elsewhere, away from me. Lady Margaret is now in England with her father. My son, the king's grace is in Edinburgh. And I shall spend the autumn here in Stirling. I am over-tired and natter about nothing. What was the point I was trying to make?

And now comes the rain...

Sound the bugle now - play it just for me
As the seasons change - remember how I used to be
Now I can't go on - I can't even start
I've got nothing left - just an empty heart

I'm a soldier - wounded so I must give up the fight
There's nothing more for me - lead me away...
Or leave me lying here

Sound the bugle now - tell them I don't care
There's not a road I know - that leads to anywhere
Without a light I fear that I will - stumble in the dark
Lay right down - decide not to go on

Then from on high - somewhere in the distance
There's a voice that calls - remember who your are
If you lose yourself - your courage soon will follow

So be strong tonight - remember who you are
Yeah you're a soldier now - fighting in a battle
To be free once more -Yeah that's worth fighting for

How beautiful, this hymn of faith...

May it be an evening star
Shines down upon you
May it be when darkness falls
Your heart will be true
You walk a lonely road
Oh! How far you are from home

Mornie utúlië (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantië (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now

May it be the shadows call
Will fly away
May it be you journey on
To light the day
When the night is overcome
You may rise to find the sun

Mornie utúlië (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantië (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now

A promise lives within you now

Hear it, see it...

And all this time I thought I was from England...
You Are From Venus

You love all forms of beauty. You love dressing up and anything luxurious.
A social butterfly, you're incredibly popular and a great host.
You're known for your fairness and affection. And as a friend to all.
Careful though! You're desire to please may make you too willing to conform.
Be yourself. Focus on what matters to you. You'll be all the more popular for it.

Of course, according to Will Somer in his comparison of a woman to Venus, this means that I am hot, gaseous and three times the size of the Earth. *sigh*

I have spent the last two months in seclusion. The Pope would have me reconcile with Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus and return to the marriage.

I will not have it.

This man used me ill during our marriage. He imprisoned me, tore my daughter from my arms when she was but an infant, took everything from me that I held dear, stole my pensions as queen and ran me out of my own home. He forced me to hide in the countryside, disguised as a common woman living hand-to-mouth in fear for my life for six months after our divorce.

Now he petitions to have me return to him.

Like. Bloody. Hell.

I am no stranger to marital discord and I am well versed in the procedure of divorce, having successfully wrested it from the Holy Father once before. Now His Holiness Clement would have me reconsider. "No Christian woman would do other," says Clement.

Then I shall be a heretic. Burn me as you see fit, Holy Father. Excommunicate me if you must. But as I see it, God in His mercy understands far better than you, mere mortal man.

This is Anguish's ploy to regain the seat of power and command over my son the King's Grace.

I think the time has come to retake all that was taken from me. I shall plow him flat. Better lovers than he have been crushed under my fist. This time, I believe I shall drop an entire anvil upon him.

The huntsman is now the hunted. May he find refuge where he can. I shall have his head on a spit by Yuletide. Mark my words. And there will be no others to take his place...so help me God.

You scored as Aurora. You are often hidden from the world and concealed about who you are. However, you do have an incredible imagination that can make up for it. You often wonder about the world around you and tend to feel that others overprotect you.
